Chrysanthemum convergence, all ready to layer and quilt. |

Bright Convergence needing interesting borders now. |
I have been playing in the sandbox! I have made a couple of Covergence quilts , one of which is now ready to layer and quilt. These are for teaching samples for a beginner convergence quilt class being offered where I teach. Convergence is a really easy technique but you can quickly make something that LOOKS difficult. If you choose your fabrics carefully, cut and sew accurately, the finished product can look quite impressive. It is a fun project for someone who is not brave about sewing intricate blocks yet. However, a lot can be learned about making intricate blocks from this technique. Give it a try . Have a look at Ricky Timms book, "Convergence Quilts.
I am posting this on

Wow...that does not look easy but then I have never done any serious quilting. The effect is stunning.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!! I see you used 4 fabrics. The effect is sensational! I don't know what I was thinking. It wouldn't work with just 2 in any kind of exceptional way. 3 is a minimum for any kind of impressive-ness. Big fat duh!!
ReplyDeleteI have made 1 and then tried a second that I gave up on. These take some prefiguring. You have very obviously got that prefiguring down pat. Excellent. I should give them another try!
ReplyDeleteI have never done one of these, probably because I don't have the book, perhaps I will check the library to see if they have it next time I am there. I wonder if there is anything in my stash that will work?
ReplyDeletethose look great! Reminds me that I have one of these in a UFO pile somewhere that I need to complete.
ReplyDeleteI can see that the sewing part seems to be simple, but you sure do have an eye for colour, and some serious math skills! Your quilts are just gorgeous.
