I am working on a series of wall quilts that were inspired by my photos of trips to Scotland recently. My series is called, so far, "Scotland Quilted" . I have just finished a piece inspired by the rock outcrops at Achnabreck near Lochgilphead. The rocks have been chip carved long ago ( 5000 years+) by persons unknown and for purposes unknown. The resulting Cup and Ring marks are astounding and really "lit my board" so I have done a piece on linen with layers and layers of embroidery, applique and quilting to suggest the ancient art. I like it and it is getting very nice comments. As soon as I can work out how to post photos, I shall do so and look forward to any comments.
Yesterday, I started my next piece, an Oyster Catcher on the stony beach at Keil near Southend in Kintyre. He will be appliqued , stones will be appliqued and embroidered and seaweed and other beach detritus will be added as I go. In hopes of being able to attach pictures, I shall photograph the progress . Wish me luck!
thanks for your article, like your blog very much, well done.
